6th centenary of the birth of Louis XI

To commemorate the 600 years of the birth of Louis XI (1423-2023), the Royal Castle of Amboise present you an exhibition dealing with the intense and skilled politicy activity of this sovereign for example with the creation of the order of Saint Michael, founded in the Royal Castle of Amboise in 1469.

This Order of knights was one of the powerfull instrument that Louis XI used to ensure the loyalty of his faithful subjects and extend its royal authority that was fragile.


For this exhibtion, partnerships was established with the BNF (Nationale Library of France), Versailles castle, the museum of the Legion of Honor and also the cities of Amboise and Avranches.


Rates: The exhibition is included in the entrance fee
